Homestead's run of Wisconsin Division 1 state championship game appearances ends at three. Saturday, Menomonee Falls beat the defending champs 27-7 to end the Highlanders 24-game win streak in the second round of the WIAA playoffs.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Menomonee Falls (10-1) was led by senior quarterback Max Poeske. The Indians will face Sun Prairie next Saturday in the quarterfinals.
Homestead, which finishes 10-1 on the season.

The road to Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium and a state high school football championship begins Tuesday night when the Wisconsin Interscholatic Athletic Association post-season begins across the state.
The state's biggest classification is loaded with six unbeaten teams in the field of 64. Defending champ Homestead is one of those unbeatens. Homestead has played Arrowhead three years running for the D1 title...winning titles in 2006 and 2008.
